A new Residents Association has been established in Limerick Junction, a small village just outside Tipperary town. The decision follows the recent community engagement to respond to a planning application for a walkway to be created between Sologhead Memorial and the train station, the racecourse and the N24 road. The majority of residents were opposed to plans to put the walkway to the rear of their house and organised over 200 submissions on the planning application put forward by Tipperary County Council and the Tipperary Town Revitalisation Task Force.
Noel O’Keefe is the inaugural chairperson, Catherine Sheridan is the honorary secretary, Nicola Long the treasurer and Declan Long was appointed vice chair in his absence.
Noel O’Keeffe describes the new Association as a very positive move for the community.
The Association will meet regularly and, while the initial focus will be on resisting the Council’s development plans at the rear of their homes and protecting their mutual security, there will also be a focus on ways in which to further develop an already vibrant community.
Council officials in the planning section of Tipperary County Council are now reviewing all of the valid submissions received on the proposed walkway and will bring a report to the September meeting of the MD for consideration by the 11 councillors in the Tipperary Cashel Municipal District.
