Data from the Central Statistics Office shows that the MidWest Region(Tipperary, Clare and Limerick) recorded the highest increase in house prices in the 12 months to the end of May at 11.2%.
Nationally residential property prices rose by 8.2% in the 12 months to May 2024, up from 7.9% in the year to April 2024. In Dublin, residential property prices saw an increase of 8.6%.
The analysis is based on data reported to Revenue on 3,997 dwellings purchases by households in May 2024 – a decrease of 9.9% when compared with purchases in May 2023.
Nationally the median or mid-point price is €335,000 for a residential property in the 12 months to May 2024.
The median price of a house in County Tipperary is €215,000 – however there are huge variations in prices across the county ranging from a high of €236,500 in Clonmel to the lowest €160,000 in Tipperary town.
Cashel had the second highest median price in Tipperary at €235,000. Nenagh reports a median price of €225,000, Carrick on Suir €215,000, Thurles €220,000, Cahir €196,250 and Roscrea €189,000.
Across Ireland existing dwellings accounted for 81% of the dwelling purchases filed in May, while the balance 19 % or 766 units were new dwellings.
