Tipperary County Council is seeking to secure a contractor to maintain the public lighting system in the county.
Enerveo, the current contractor, has announced that it is leaving the Irish market and will not bid to renew it’s contacts with multiple Councils across the country.
Tipperary County Council issued a tender for a replacement public lighting maintenance contractor when notified that Enerveo were withdrawing from the market.
Three tender bids were received and the tender assessment process is nearing completion.
Assuming that there are no challenges to the tender assessment, the Council expects to have a new maintenance contractor will be in place in late July / early August.
It is expected that once the contractor is appointed monthly meetings will be held between the Council and the successful contractor to monitor performance levels and ensure that maintenance is carried out within anticipated response times.
Several councillors had expressed dissatisfaction at the response time by Enerveo in recent years.
Enerveo and the previous contractor Airtricity provided an online map and telephone number (0818 372 772) to enable public lighting faults to be reported by any member of the public using the number on the pole as a reference number.
