The Community Field committee in Ballynonty are appealing for information after a recently installed Defibrillator was damaged. The Ballinonty Community Field posted that “some mindless thugs” removed the recently installed defibrillator from its case and threw it on the ground in the rain. The group say the matter is a criminal offence and has been reported to An Garda Siochana. The committee hopes that a forensic examination of the device might yield some fingerprints to help identify the culprits.

The group are now to install CCTV in the area but express frustration that their work as volunteers to help save someone’s life can be impeded in this way. The committee are appealing for anyone with information to make contact. The group hope to have the device serviced and restored to the site as soon as possible. The device had been installed on the Community House in recent days thanks to fundraising and a Leader Grant with future plans to provide a training course on how the device can be used in a medical emergency to possibly save a life.
