Almost 70 submissions have been made in respect of the proposed Walkway from the Sologhead Memorial to Limerick Junction Train station, the Tipperary Racecourse and the N24.
Friday July 12th was the closing date for submissions and there may be further submissions yet to be uploaded to the council website which updates each day at midnight. The proposal to install a portion of the walkway to the rear of houses in Limerick Junction is strongly opposed by many of the residents as a security risk and also on the grounds that the footpath linking the Train station to the Roadway provides a viable alternative. Two local TDs have also made submissions Deputy Mattie McGrath and Martin Browne both supporting the removal of the proposed section behind the houses. The project was put forward by the Tipperary town Task force and supported by the Racecourse, Tipperary Co-Op and Tipperary County Council. Carmel Fox the chairperson of the Task force has made a submission in support of the project.
Officials in the Planning office will now consider all of the submissions and bring forward a proposal for a future meeting of Tipperary Cahir Cashel MD where the final decision about the project and it’s route will be made by the 11 councillors. The Project details and submissions to date can be found at this link here.
