Tipperary County Council Finance Department To Audit Number Of Outdoor Staff

344

Cllr Roger Kennedy, Tipperary Cahir Cashel MD has requested that the Tipperary County Council Finance Department prepare an audit outlining the numbers of outdoor staff or general operatives working in the council in 2014 and the current level of such staff.

Cllr Kennedy made the request at today’s plenary meeting in advance of Budget workshops to be held in the autumn. The Councillor is concerned that although the council is rolling out new infrastructure in the form of public realm improvements, walkways, Greenways and Blueways there is a danger that these projects could turn out to be what he termed “White Elephants” or become derelict due to a lack of a lack of maintenance.  In 2014 the former North and South Tipperary Councils were merged to form Tipperary County Council and 9 Urban District Councils for the towns were abolished.
