A presentation of €17,000 raised by the Climb Galtymore sponsored walk in aid of the Tipperary Excel Centre was made on Friday last. The Group also donated €200 to the South East Mountain Rescue Association(SEMRA).
Members of the Board of Management chaired by Elaine Fitzpatrick alongside the Excel Centre Manager Mary Leahy accepted the donation which has assisted with the re-opening of the Cinema service at the Arts and Cultural Centre. Some of the equipment required to download and screen films had to be replaced at significant cost.
Larry Creamer and Patricia Browne both lead the June 15th climb with months of training and practice hikes since Spring 2024. Over 70 people took part in various stages of the fundraising effort. The Excel Centre says it’s next priority is to raise sufficient funds to repair the heating system.
