Residents Raise Concerns Over Traffic Management On N74

1008

Residents in Tipperary town are expressing concerns about the traffic management on the N74 as extensive roadworks are underway. The Contractor Glas Civil Engineering has implemented a one-way traffic system on the Cashel road between the junction for the Knockanrawley Road and the Bansha Road.

Residents report that drivers are driving on the roadway in conflict with the traffic flow to reach St Michael Avenue and roads to the north of the roadworks. Drivers are reported to be taking the corner at high speeds and residents are concerned about potential collisions. The parking of vehicles in some areas of the road works is also causing pedestrians to have to walk on the roadway in certain areas close to the speeding traffic.

The residents want additional directional signage on the N74 to advise drivers that it is a one-way system in the area of the roadworks especially for traffic exiting from Knockanrawley to be informed that a left turn on the N74 is not allowed. The project is expected to take a total of 18 months to complete with the one-way system in operation until early 2025.
