IBTS Appeals For Blood Donors To Replenish Low Levels Of Blood Stock

254

The Irish Blood Transfusion Service is appealing for donors due to the seriously low levels of some blood stocks.

The current blood supply situation may have implications for Irish hospitals as a pre-amber alert letter was issued to all hospitals on the 25th of June, restricting issues of O negative blood and hospitals have been asked to reduce their stock holding. This enables the IBTS to manage the limited blood supply available more effectively across the health service.

Blood Donation Clinics are planned for the Scouts Hall in Nenagh this evening and tomorrow evening. Appointments are available between 4.50pm and 8.10pm by calling 1 800 222 111. New Donors are also welcome.
