Decrease In New Vehicle Registrations Compared To 2023

New vehicle registrations in County Tipperary are slightly down compared to this time last year according to data from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry.

In the first six months of 2024 1,866 new car were registered in the Premier County, while at the same time last year 1,891 were newly registered – a drop of −1.32 percent.

Meanwhile imported used cars have seen a 22.2% rise in June.

692 new electric cars were registered, which was 52% lower than the 1,432 registrations in June 2023.

Petrol cars lead the new car market at 32.96% followed by Diesel at 22.89%, then Hybrid (Petrol Electric) at 20.11%, Electric at 13.61%, and Plug-in Electric Hybrid at 8.83%.

Nationally new car registrations for June were down 50% when compared to this time last year.
