Limerick Junction Walkway Proposal Receives Two Submissions

189

Tipperary County Council’s proposal to build a walkway across fields linking the Soloheadbeg Memorial to the Ambush that began the War of Independence and Limerick Junction has received two submissions to date.

One resident in the area welcomes the walkway but is highlighting concern about the potential increased risk of flooding for residents in Limerick Junction given a serious flooding incident in February of this year and also security concerns in respect of the walkway being at the rear of residences. The second submission from the Mid-West Road Design Office outlines that the proposed walkway does not in any way conflict with the plans for the N24 Cahir to Limerick Road project which includes Active travel proposals along the existing N24 connecting Monard to Limerick Junction. The submission also reveals that the next update on the N24 road project is due before the end of September.

Over the weekend the Tipperary Town Facebook page outlined that residents in Limerick Junction are concerned about the lack of prior consultation about the project. Full details of the project can be found on the Council website under Consultations at this link  here and on the Revitalisation Task Force website. The Part 8 Planning process is ongoing since the Council published the plans on May 29th. Submissions can be made free of charge until July 12th. The final decision will be made at a Municipal District Council meeting following receipt of the planner’s report based  on the submissions received during the consultation process.
