The New Youth Board of CIE – Tipperary’s Aisling Moloney is standing on the platform.

Aisling Moloney from Tipperary is one of the members of the inaugural Youth Board at CIÉ. The board is to help reimagine the future of Ireland’s public transport system. Young people from across Ireland will form the board which will act as an advisory board to CIÉ’s board. It will address some key challenges and opportunities faced by CIÉ Group – from sharing a youth perspective on operational issues to reimagining how to encourage the public at large to move from private to public transport.
CIÉ launched a search for Transport Trailblazers to join its new Youth Board last month, engaging directly with national youth organisations in addition to a social media recruitment campaign. Two hundred and fifty young people applied to be part of the fifteen-person youth board. Aisling Maloney is 21 years old, and her motivation for applying to the youth board stems from a long term usage of public transport, which has driven her to speak on transport in her roles in Youth Work Ireland, The National Youth Council of Ireland and Spunout. Ms Moloney, from Templemore,  recently ran as a Green Party candidate in the Roscrea Templemore LEA.
The youth board will formally begin its two-year board tenure in September.
