Two streets in Thurles are to be closed for 48 hours to facilitate the Liberty Music Festival taking place in Thurles Town Park. The event is scheduled for July 6th and 7th.  Emmett Street and Thomond Road will be closed to traffic between midnight on Saturday 6 July 2024 to midnight on Sunday 7 July. Tipperary county council says the road closure is to facilitate pedestrian access to Liberty Music Festival. Diversions will be in place for traffic in Thurles.

The closure follows a night time closure of the River Suir Bridge beginning tonight until July 5th. The bridge, which takes traffic from Liberty Square onto Cathedral street leading to the N75, will be closed each night for road resurfacing between 7pm and 5am.  An alternative route via the Mill Road and Turtulla  will be signposted for drivers.
