Emergency Services Respond To An Electrical Fire On Murgasty Road

Emergency services responded to a small electrical fire last evening at a residence on Murgasty Road. The incident began at 7.45pm when the home owner noticed their lights flickering. The home was occupied by a couple and their 3 year old daughter at the time. The resident observed smoke outside the property after going to the hallway to check the fuse box. Sparks could be seen near the exterior roof where power cables entered the building.

Garda, 2 units of Tipperary Fire Service and ESB networks staff responded to the incident. Fire extinguishers were used to put out the fire on the wires and crews worked to remove and replace the wiring. Murgasty road was closed until 10.15pm as the repairs were completed and checked. No damage and no injuries are reported. The property owner was very complimentary to the personnel that responded to the call for their quick response, repairs and prompt restoration of supply.
