Night Time Works Starting On The Cahir Rail Line Tonight

433

Irish Rail is giving notice of night time works on the Rail line in Cahir starting at 8pm on tonight June 25th. The company dropped a letter to residents in the town in recent days advising that notice is required as part of the company’s environmental policy if plant and machinery working at night will cause higher than normal overnight noise levels. The work is expected to continue for 5 nights until June 30th between 8pm and 5am the following morning.  Some residents have complained about the lack of notice as the letter is dated May 14th.

Residents are advised that the staff will park in an orderly fashion and will be briefed to keep noise to a minimum. The work involves maintenance of the rail track itself.

Cahir forms a portion of the Branch line that links Waterford to Limerick Junction serving Carrick on Suir, Clonmel, Cahir and Tipperary town – however the service is limited and there are only two services on the line from Waterford daily with departures at 7.20am and 4.25pm while the service departing Limerick Junction departs at 9.45am and 6.45pm meaning the night time works will not impact train services. There is no Sunday service on the route.
