Roadstone is to seek planning permission for a Bio Renewable plant including an Anaerobic Digester at it’s existing quarry facility at Killough located between Cashel and the Horse and Jockey. The company is to host a drop in information session tomorrow at the Horse and Jockey Hotel between 4pm and 8pm. Details of the proposed development will  be available to view with Roadstone personnel and their planning advisors on hand to meet the public.

A planning application has yet to be submitted to Tipperary County Council.  The company is inviting feedback from the public at tomorrow’s information event or by email to [email protected] up to July 26th.

Such plants can take slurry, organic matter, food waste and specially produced crops to produce bio methane gas.  The government is hoping to develop the sector in Ireland to provide energy and reduce carbon emissions with State funding of €40 – €60M to be made available this year alone to assist with the cost of constructing such plants. Nephin Renewable Gas, headquartered in Tipperary town, are also seeking to roll out a series of such plants across the country.
