The Alzheimer Society of Ireland(ASI) today officially launched its annual Memory Walk. The event is a nationwide event that will take place in 35 locations on Sunday, 22nd September and gives families, friends and those living with dementia the opportunity to come together. A walk is planned for Fethard Town Park and possibly one other location in county Tipperary.

This year’s Memory Walk features a dedicated group of ambassadors such as broadcaster Teena Gates, former politician Nora Owen, TV presenter Martin King and Munster’s rising Rugby star Josh Wycherley

The ASI is urging people across Ireland to show their support for Memory Walk and register online at www.memorywalk.ie. Approximately 64,000 people in Ireland are living with dementia including  2,457 in county Tipperary  along with their families and carers. In 2023, the Memory Walk raised over €120,000 to help fund vital services for people with dementia, including Daycare, Daycare at Home, Family Carer Training, Social Clubs, Cafés, and a National Helpline available at 1 800 341 341 that operates Monday to Saturday.
