Tipperary TD Welcomes Significant Funding For North Tipp Under Just Transition Fund

Government T.D. for North Tipperary, Jackie Cahill, is welcoming a significant funding allocation for North Tipperary under the Just Transition Fund(JTF).

Roscrea will benefit from an allocation of €2,976,548 towards upgrades within Roscrea Castle and €581,687 towards the design and planning for the regeneration of Castle Street. The funding will aid the delivery of interpretation upgrade and introduction of new exhibitions within Roscrea Castle, Damer House, Heritage Centre, and landscaping works to the castle courtyard and garden 

The Littleton Labyrinth project will also benefit as the Littleton/Lough Doire Bhille site has been included in the €3.6 million allocation to Bord na Móna’s trail development network. The company intends to establish 79 Km of walking and cycling trails on it’s land bank in several Midland counties. 

The Littleton Labyrinth project, is intended to develop the area around the former peat extraction industry as a recreation and tourism amenity. The JTF is intended to help the economies of areas where the move away from fossil fuels has caused job losses.

Carrick on Suir and Thurles Municipal Districts are the only parts of Tipperary eligible for Just Transition Funding.  €185,027 is allocated to Carrick on Suir for a Riverside Regeneration project with the funding to be used for a Feasibility study,  concept development,  detailed design and planning applications.
