Tipperary’s Sharlene Mawdsley has added a Silver medal to the Gold Medal she won 4 days ago at the European Athletic Championships in Rome.
Last night the Newport woman was a member of Ireland’s women’s 4x400m relay team alongside Sophie Becker, Rhasidat Adeleke and Phil Healy that finished second in a new Irish record time of three minutes 22.71 seconds. The race was won by the Netherlands in a time of 3 22.39. Sharlene Mawdsley ran the anchor leg for Ireland.
Ms Mawdsley won Gold with Rhasidat Adeleke, Thomas Barr and Chris O’Donnell in the mixed 4 x 400m Relay event.
The Irish team are now looking forward to the 2024 Olympics in Paris due to start on July 26th.
