The cinema service at the Tipperary Excel Centre is to resume in June if testing of the new equipment over the weekend returns satisfactory results. The cinema is now expected to reopen on June 6th and as a “Thank You” to the public for their support with fundraising all tickets for June will be priced at €5.
Chairperson of the Board of the Excel Centre Elaine Fitzpatrick says she hopes the June Cinema deal will be well supported. Ms Fitzpatrick adds that fundraising continues as there are plans to replace the boiler and other heating related equipment. It is understood that the Excel has applied for grant aid for some of the repairs but will have to contribute some match funding.
A local Group has been fundraising via a sponsored walk of the Galtee Mountain set to take place on June 15th led by Larry Creamer and Patricia O’Brien. A number of other fundraising events are also in the pipeline. The official confirmation of a reopening date is expected on Tuesday June 4th.
