Uisce Éireann is confirming that overnight pressure reduction measures have ended in Tipperary town following the restoration of normal water levels. The night time restrictions, in place since Friday 17 May, were as a result of increased flows due to leaks which caused water in the reservoir to fall to unsustainable levels.
Uisce Éireann’s Colin Cunningham says “A number of significant leaks in Tipperary town had resulted in water dropping to unsustainable levels in the reservoir. We managed to maintain regular day time supply through reducing the pressure overnight and efforts by people across Tipperary town to reduce their overall consumption.
Leak Detection and Repair crews were deployed to the area and made a number of repairs, reducing overall leakage across the area. Uisce Eireann is to continue work to finalise repairs in Tipperary town but says ongoing leaks are likely given the aging network.
