504 admitted patients are waiting for beds in the nation’s public hospitals today according to the INMO Trolley Watch Report. One hundred and thirty-three admitted patients in University Hospital Limerick(UHL) are without a bed today. The INMO says that 60 of the patients were on trolleys in the Emergency Department area at the time the data was compiled and that a further 73 admitted patients in UHL were accommodated by moving their trolley to some ward of the hospital – in excess of the regular ward capacity.   The scale of the overcrowding in UHL is underlined by the fact that the next highest trolley count total is 47 at Cork University Hospital. Nenagh and Clonmel hospitals both report 4 patients on trolleys today.
