Three towns in county Tipperary are amongst 26 towns allocated funding today under the government’s Town Centre First Heritage Revival Scheme, also known as THRIVE. Nenagh is allocated €200,000, Thurles €190,460 and Clonmel is to receive €181,632.
The funding allocated under Strand One of the scheme announced today is to fund the development of a strategy to address vacancy, dereliction or under use of heritage buildings in town centres that are owned by the Council or that the Council has an agreement re sharing with another public body.
In January 2025, Strand Two will open for applications for funding to implement the capital building works on the selected property. The scheme is intended to be community led, with the local community to decide on which property and what it’s new end use will be.
In total, twenty-six town centres were allocated a total of €5M.
