The South Tipperary Stroke Communication Group is hosting a National Conference on Stroke on 20th May from 9.30am to 1.30pm. The free event will be held in the Cashel Palace Hotel.
The event will feature a number of key presentations and several care providers will also provide information stands on the day. Speakers include Actor and Stroke Survivor Darren Creaven, Professor Joseph Harbison and Dr Ronan Langan.
This is the third Conference hosted by the South Tipperary Stroke Communication Group.
Every year, approximately 7,500 people in Ireland have a stroke.
Stroke is the biggest cause of acquired disability and the third biggest cause of death in Ireland.
The presentations include advice from professionals in the area of stroke and rehabilitation, from survivors and from those who are active in technology developments for those who suffer a stroke or a brain injury.
The Conference is supported by TASK Community Care and by Home Instead Ireland and the Tipperary Volunteer Centre.
The event is organised by Martin Quinn, Tipperary town, himself a stroke survivor. While the event is free places must be booked on the Eventbrite platform at this link here.
