Two Tipperary Projects To Benefit From The EU Just Transition Fund

Two projects in county Tipperary are to receive funding Under the EU Just Transition Fund.  In total 15 projects in the Midlands will share funding of €18M.

The Fund is intended to support areas where employment has been lost due to a move away from fossil fuels including the closure of Bord Na Mona peat harvesting and briquette making facilities. Thurles and Carrick on Suir Municipal Districts are the only eligible areas in county Tipperary.  

€993,011 is allocated to the Bio methane Development Office at the former Lisheen Mine site near Templetuohy and Tipperary ETB is to receive  €999,791 for a new pre apprenticeship  programme.  In addition to today’s allocation of €18M two further strategic flagship projects at Universities in the Midlands Region supporting the delivery of the Regional Enterprise Plans have been approved for total funding of over €8 million to deliver education and training opportunities for the economic development and environmental sustainability of the Midlands region.
