Tipperary Sinn Féin TD Martin Browne and Councillor for Carrick-on-Suir David Dunne are condemning what they call “the shocking waste of public money” Uisce Éireann is overseeing. The criticism comes after the N24 road at Pill Road Hill, Carrick on Suir has had to be opened to replace a burst water main. The road had recently been resurfaced.
Deputy Martin Browne says the performance of Uisce Eireann in Cashel and Carrick on Suir recently indicates that Uisce Eireann is clearly not fit for purpose as it currently operates. Deputy Browne says the outages are too frequent and the repair measures seem to repeatedly fail leading him to question the effective use of funds.
Cllr David Dunne says Carrick residents were without water from Thursday night into Saturday evening, the second time in just three weeks due to a burst mains pipe on the Pill Road Hill on the N24. The Councillor noted that the recently resurfaced road has been damaged by the water mains repair works and questions why new piping was not installed before the road repairs. Cllr Dunne says Uisce Eireann is derelict in it’s duty towards businesses, households road users and tax payers.
