Ifac, Ireland’s farming, food and agribusiness specialist professional services firm is reminding Tipperary farmers not to miss the May deadline for the Basic Income Support Scheme (BISS).
The BIS Scheme was launched last year to replace the Basic Payments Scheme from previous years. The deadline to apply for the scheme is the 15th of May this year.
Tim Ryan Partner at Ifac in Nenagh says the scheme involves farmers making a declaration for the land being farmed in the year 2024 and, therefore, enabling receipt of BISS monies in October to December.
As an income support IFAC says the BISS payment is crucial to the financial viability of many farms in Ireland. Errors on the application can cause payments to be withheld at a time when they may be urgently needed and IFAC is encouraging farmers to prepare and to engage with their Agri-advisors before submitting their applications.
The Department of Agriculture requires all BISS applications to be made online this year.
