A local couple are being recognised for their work in rehoming greyhounds after their racing careers are over. John & Patricia Nash from Monard, were presented with the Welfare Award at the National Greyhound Racing Awards held last weekend. Greyhounds had always been a part of their lives in the UK before the couple moved to live in Ireland in 1994.
The couple decided to go into the welfare of greyhounds in 2010, offering a home for greyhounds as they await adoption. The couple also have 5 retired greyhounds as pets and at any one time they can care for and ready up to 20 greyhounds for adoption and a new home.
The Welfare Award to recognise their work was made on behalf of everyone involved in the Irish greyhound racing industry.
