A Tipperary Senator is backing Minister Simon Harris to become the next Fine Gael leader.
Garret Aherne says Minister Harris is a man of core values and has shown great leadership in roles that he has held in the last number of years.
Senator Aherne says he’s one of the best campaigners he’s have ever seen.
Meanwhile the vast majority of the Opposition are calling for a General Election however Tánaiste Micheál Martin and Green Party Leader Eamonn Ryan says the Government will continue till full term.
So far Minister Harris is the only contender with Helen McEntee, Paschal Donoghue, Simon Coveney, Heather Humphreys and Hildegarde Naughton ruling themselves out, it seems likely Simon Harris will become the new Fine Gael leader.
