One motorist has already been arrested on suspicion of Drunk Driving on the M8 near Cashel.
Gardaí from the Tipperary/Clare Roads Policing Unit are conducting a checkpoint on the motorway, North of the town.
The multi agency response also involves Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) & Gardaí from Cahir.
Gardaí are appealing to motorists if they are travelling, do not drive if they might be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
