Fourth Fine Gael Candidate Selected For Tipperary Cashel LEA Local Elections

Fine Gael have selected a fourth candidate for the Tipperary Cashel LEA Local Elections. The party currently holds four seats but incumbent Cllr Michael Fitztgerald is to step down. Dairy farmer Matthew Fogarty from Kilfeacle is now to join sitting councillors John Cross, Declan Burgess and Mary Hanna Hourigan on the party ticket. The Tipperary Cashel LEA will elect 7 councillors. Sitting Fianna Sitting Fianna Fáil Councillor Roger Kennedy is also standing for re-election and he will be joined on the Fianna Fáil ticket by Jacqui Finnan Kinahan.  The two sitting Sinn Fein Councillors Tony Black and Anne Marie Ryan – both based in Tipperary town are also standing for re-election.  Independents Liam Browne, John O’Heney and Peadar O’Donnell are also to contest the Tipperary Cashel LEA contest.

The Tipperary Cashel Municipal  District Council is made up of 11 councillors as it is formed by the Tipperary Cashel and Cahir Local Electoral Area(LEA). Cahir LEA will elect 4 councillors with the four sitting members standing again in June 2024 – Marie Murphy(FG), Mairin McGrath Independent, Andy Moloney Independent and Micheal Anglim(FF).  In addition Cathal O hEanna is standing for Sinn Fein and Alan Moynihan is to stand in the Local Elections for the Social Democrats. The date for the Local Elections is expected to be set for June 7th in conjunction with the European Parliament Elections.
