Tipperary town’s Jacqui Finnan has been selected as a Fianna Fáil candidate for the Cashel-Tipperary LEA in the upcoming Local Elections.

She joins Cashel based Cllr. Roger Kennedy on the Fianna Fáil ticket, looking to make a gain in this area for the party.

Ms Finnan, a former Mayor of Tipperary town, comes from a family steeped in local politics, with father Christy Kinahan being a long-time Councillor.

She previously owned a small business in the town for 11 years, and also worked for the HSE as Home Help for 15 years. She joined Fianna Fáil in 2015 and currently serves as Membership & Recruitment Director of the Fianna Fáil Women’s Network.

Ms Finnan says she has lived in Tipperary town all of her life, and understands the issues that impact the local community, and would love the opportunity to represent the people on Tipperary County Council. With the right people representing the town Ms Finnan believes the decline of the town can be reversed adding that she is committed to representing Tipp town with the vigour and commitment the community deserves.

Some of her priorities are the regeneration of Tipperary town, more social & affordable homes, supporting local small businesses, advancing local healthcare & mental health services, and improving local roads infrastructure, among many other things.

The local elections are to be held in June alongside the European Parliament Elections.

There are 7 seats to be filled in the Tipperary Cashel LEA.  Cllr Michael Fitzgerald (FG) is the only current councillor stepping down this year. Cllr Fitzgerald has been a councillor since 1979.
