Tipperary County council says works are almost complete to install a new 50KW Electric Vehicle Charging Station in the Abbey Street Car park in Tipperary town. The work necessitated the closure of the entrance way at times to install electrical cabling.
The Council in partnership with EasyGo, working with eir, is completing the installation of thirteen stations which will see the company investing €600,000 into the county. The thirteen new fast electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in the county provide 24 charging points. Eleven are now operational including charge points in Cahir and Cashel.
The Tipperary facility in the Abbey street car park and a new 75KW facility in Nenagh are yet to be made operational.
Transport accounts for one-third of Ireland’s energy-related CO2 emissions so increased adoption of EVs is a key aspect of Ireland’s Climate Action Plan. EasyGo and eir are utilising Tritium’s world-first, next-generation simultaneous DC Rapid Chargers, adding up to 100km range to an Electric Vehicle in just 15 minutes.
