Issues With Public Lighting In County Tipperary Raised At Plenary Meeting

Problems with Public Lighting in county Tipperary were raised by several councillors at yesterday’s plenary meeting with councillors complaining of lights reported but still not repaired after several months.  Tipperary County Council has responsibility for the management and maintenance of more than 18,300 lights in the county and public lighting is the biggest user of energy in the Council’s overall energy usage.  Yesterday’s meeting was informed that the % of lights out of order at present is 2% or 366 lights.  The council’s target is to have 99% of lights working at all times.

Repair works are carried out by Enerveo on behalf of the Local Authority and council officials say the company is putting additional resources into repairing lights and hope to clear a significant backlog in the next few weeks.

Tipperary County Council is also participating in the National Public Lighting Energy Efficiency Project (PLEEP) which will see 11,600 lights upgraded to LED across Tipperary. The contractor appointed to carry out this work has completed surveying all existing streetlights and lighting designs will commence by June with all of the new LED lights in place by early 2025.

Faults on public lighting faults can be reported on the website www.enerveo.com or by phoning the Enerveo Call Centre at  0818 372 772 or by calling Customer Services, Tipperary County Council at 0818 06 5000. Those reporting a fault are asked to include the pole number to ensure a more efficient response.
