A Tipperary Independent TD is urging the Integration Minister to meet with the people of Roscrea.
Speaking in Dail Eireann Mattie McGrath calls for a visit adding that Minister Roderic O’Gorman “won’t find a far-right person.”
Mr McGrath believes local people in the town are being demonised by the national coverage of the protests.
It follows protests in the town earlier this month over news that their only hotel was to facilitate 160 asylum seekers.
Demonstrators remain outside the Racket Hall Hotel as they enter into their third week.
It’s believed a discussion took place earlier this week about moving the demonstration into the town centre instead of outside the hotel.
