New State Of The Art Fire Station To Open In Cashel Today

1002

After a long wait Cashel’s brand new and state of the art Fire Station will today (Thursday 25th January) in Wallers Lot Cashel.

Cllr Declan Burgess is welcoming the news describing the projects as “a long awaited development in the town.”  The over €3.2 million project includes 3 quality bays at the Wallers Lot site near the M8.

Cllr Burgess says the Cashel Fire Service personnel do trojan work for the community and often have to work in very difficult situations adding that he wholeheartedly supports them and their efforts.

All 12 of Tipperary’s fire stations are staffed by “Retained Fire Fighters” meaning the personnel have another employment or source of income.

The service has suffered from a staff recruitment and retention crisis in recent years and SIPTU are seeking to resolve outstanding demands in respect of pay and working conditions as part of the next, and now overdue, Public sector Pay Deal.
