Sharon Kennedy, the new Director of Services for Planning and Development (including Town Centre First and Just Transition) and Emergency Services and Emergency Planning with Tipperary County Council is to be responsible for the Tipperary Cahir Cashel Municipal District.
Ms Kennedy joined Tipperary County Council in December after serving 4 years with Offaly County Council as Director of Services for Housing, Community, Culture (including Libraries, Arts, Sports) and Emergency Services.
Anthony Coleman was the previous Director of Services with Responsibility for Tipperary town.
Mr Coleman will now focus full time on the work of the Local Authority Water Programme (LAWPRO) – which is expected to establish an office in Kilheffernan House, just outside Tipperary town
Ms Kennedy’s brother Joe MacGrath is the current CEO of Tipperary County Council and Mr MacGrath is expected to retire at the end of May after serving for 10 years in the position.
Deputy CEO Ms Sinead Carr is thought to be a likely successor to the positon of Tipperary Council CEO – Mr MacGrath has held the position since it was established in 2014 as part of the reform of local Government when the Councils in North and South Tipperary and nine Urban District Councils were abolished and replaced with one local authority and five Municipal Districts Councils.
