The N24 Road project including the Tipperary Town By Pass is the top priority of Tipperary County Council according to Cllr Declan Burgess.

The Cathaoirleach of the Tipperary Cahir Cashel Municipal District (MD) gave an update to today’s MD meeting following the annual meeting with Transport Infrastructure Ireland(TII).

Each year TII meets with the chairpersons from the 5 Tipperary MDs to discuss their top three priority road issues.

Cllr Burgess says Tipperary Council CEO Joe MacGrath and senior road engineers were very impressive in pressing the case for the N24 Cahir towards Limerick project.

Cllr Anne Marie Ryan welcomed the news that the case was made for the Tipperary town By Pass to be the priority element of the N24 upgrade.

The project design is to be finalised by the end of 2024 with a planning application expected in the first quarter of 2025 – the planning application will detail the land to be acquired for the road construction.

TII says the decision on the type of road, dual or single carriageway, has not yet been finalised.

Cllr Burgess wants any new road to be future proofed and highlighted that TII studies have shown that there are less accidents with dual carriageway type roads. Full details of the project to date are available at this link here.
