Tipperary Town had the highest amount of people in long term unemployment in the county according to the Central Statistics Office.
The data from April 2022 shows a 9% rate of long term unemployment for Tipperary Town while Cashel had a rate of 5.3%.
For towns in West Tipperary the total unemployment rate varies for Tipperary Town it was 15.1%, Cashel and Cahir were 9.2% and 9.7% respectively, while in Thurles it hit 10.7%.
In April 2022, the unemployment rate for the county was 7.7 percent with 4.1 percent of being out of work long term.
Nationally, the census unemployment rate in April 2022 was 8%, a fall from 19% in 2011 and 13% in 2016.
There’s a slight difference between men and women with the unemployment rate for males was just under 9%, for females it was 8%.
