Traffic in the Thurles area is being diverted after a collision on the N62 south of the town between Turtulla Cross and Clongour.
The collision is reported to have occurred close to Thurles Golf Club at approximately 11am.
Initial reports are that a number of people have been hospitalised for medical treatment.
Tipperary County Council says southbound traffic is being diverted via N75(Dublin Road) towards Two Mile Borris – drivers can access the old N8 road to travel south to Littleton, the Horse and Jockey and beyond.
Northbound Traffic is being diverted via Archerstown/Mill Road at Turtulla Cross.
Tipperary County Council says the road will remain closed until further notice – as of 4pm Thurles Gardaí report that the road will be closed for some considerable time yet this evening.
