Tipperary County Council has received sanction to appoint a full time Architectural Conservation Officer.
The departmental approval means the recruitment stage can now formally begin.
There are over 2,390 protected structures across Tipperary, in private and public ownership.
Any development plans for such properties will in the future be able to call on the services of the Conservation Officer for advice on repair or development projects.
It is hoped that Tipperary County Council’s first dedicated conservation officer will be in place in 2024.
Tipperary will become the 17th Local Authority to have such a specialist appointed according to the Heritage Council list of Architectural Conservation Officers in place with Local Authorities across Ireland as of August 2023.
