At least two new candidates have declared for the 2024 local elections in the Cahir Local Electoral Area(LEA).

The Social Democrats have selected Alan Moynihan to contest the 2024 Local Elections in the Cahir LEA.

The party is yet to have a councillor elected in Tipperary.  The party, with 6 TDs by Holly Cairns, says Alan Moynihan has volunteered with and advocated for mental health and disability services and will be a fresh new voice for the area.

It is understood that  Cathal Ó hÉanna will run for Sinn Fein in the Cahir LEA.

The party now has 3 sitting councillors in the county with the addition of Cllr Anne Marie Ryan to  the Sinn Fein party last week.

The four sitting councillors in the Cahir LEA are Independents Andy Moloney and Mairin McGrath, Fine Gael’s Marie Murphy and Fianna Fáil’s Micheal Anglim.

The 2024 Local Elections will be held on a date in early June next year to coincide with the European Parliament Elections.
