A special Garda operation in partnership Irish Rail and Transdev Ireland (LUAS) operators is underway today with the aim of preventing and detecting anti-social behaviour on board public transport services.
Local Crime Prevention Officers and Community Policing Gardaí will also be present in train stations to engage with commuters and provide guidance on crime prevention.
Locally Gardaí are expected to visit Limerick, Limerick Junction, Castleconnell, Birdhill, Nenagh, Cloughjordan, Roscrea, Ballybrophy, Templemore, Thurles, Tipperary, Cahir, Clonmel and Carrick on Suir train stations.
With the support of personnel from both public transport providers, Gardaí will be conducting high visibility, proactive patrols of LUAS and DART services across the Dublin region throughout the day, as well as on several intercity Irish Rail services.
