Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, winner of the Tipperary Peace Award in 2023 is marking the 34th anniversary today of the Fall of the Berlin Wall.
Ms Tsikhanouskaya, who leads the Belarus government in exile while her husband Syarhei Tsikhanouski remains imprisoned, visited Tipperary in May of this year to collect her award.
Today Ms Tsikhanouskaya says the fall of the Berlin Wall shows us that historic changes can come suddenly & unexpectedly; we may not be able to predict them, but we must be ready when the time comes.
No walls, no tyrants, no oppression can hold back freedom forever according to the de jure leader of Belarus which is currently under the control of President Alexander Lukashenko.
