New Biography Of Dan Breen To Launch This Evening

A major new biography of Dan Breen is to be launched in Ballykisteen Great National Hotel on Friday November 10th.    The book is the third book by Borrisoleigh historian John Connors who previously compiled a biography of Sean Hogan and a history of events in his native Borrisoleigh and Glenkeen.

The book which includes a foreword by author, historian and broadcaster, David

McCullagh will be officially launched by Limerick historian Thomas Toomey.

The event will begin at 7.30pm with a short programme of music featuring the Cabragh Wetlands Choir.

Dan Breen (1894-1969) was born (and is buried) Donohill and played an active part in the Irish Revolutionary period most notably in the Soloheadbeg Ambush.  He also served in Dáil Eireann and travelled to the USA on several occasions living there for a period of time.

Mr Breen played an active part in Irish life up to the time of his death in 1969 and was a prolific letter writer.  Mr Connors makes extensive use of a number of archives in researching and presenting the life of Dan Breen.

All are welcome to attend the launch of the book on Friday November 10th commencing at 7.30pm.
