The Excel Centre in Tipperary town is to offer a free screening of film produced by three local people on Thursday afternoon (November 9th) at 2pm.
The film is titled “Scenes from a Tipperary Landscape” and was first screened on October 26th to a sold out Simon Ryan Theatre. The film runs for 90 minutes and gives a detailed insight into 6 features built in the local area.
The features are the burial mound near Lattin, St Peacuan’s Well at Toureen in the Glen of Aherlow, the Motte and Bailey in Kilfeacle, Athassel Abbey, Grantstown Castle and Thomastown Castle all situated near Golden. The film features narration by historian and author Dr Des Marnane and filming, including some spectacular drone footage by local filmmaker Caleb Barrett. The film is produced by Mary Alice O’Connor and is the fifth in a series of films made by the trio with funding sourced from Creative Ireland administered by the Heritage office of Tipperary County Council.
The group work under the title of Tipperary Cultural Films and distribute their films on their own dedicated YouTube Channel in addition to arranging screenings in local communities for charitable purposes.Tipperary Cultural Films was presented with a Cathaoirleach’s Award by Cllr Declan Burgess on November 2nd in recognition of their contribution to life in the community.
