A local councillor believes the advertising of gambling on social media is a huge issue.
Eddie Kendrick, who’s a Gambling Support Worker in Cashel says big gambling companies can target specific people through the algorithm and therefore luring the people in who didn’t seek it out in the first place.
Mr Kendrick says it’s hoped the Government Gambling Regulation Bill will put in place rules around such advertising and that it will be important that lobbyist groups on problem gambling continue to put pressure in getting this bill implemented.
The local councillor says gambling causes a ripple effect on not on the individual but on their family.
