Tipp Town Group Win Young Persons In Tidy Towns Award

Tipperary Tidy Towns group is a national winner in this year’s Tidy Towns Special Award Categories.

The group won the Young Persons in Tidy towns category. The citation reads – “This award is in recognition of the people and businesses who have collaborated as a community to work to improve their environment, foster civic pride and make their town a better place.”

The Tipperary delegation collecting the award is Siobhan Landers, Residents Association Network, Dinny Ryan Tipperary Men’s Shed/Tidy Towns Committee Member and William Kinnane Tipperary town Enhancement Group/Chamber of Commerce.

Unfortunately due to prior engagements Tipperary town Tidy Towns Chairperson Paul O’Callaghan and Committee member and stalwart of the group Cristina Garani were unable to attend.

Emly, Kilsheelan and Clonmel have been awarded Gold Medals, Terryglass secured a Silver medal while Cahir, Cashel, Birdhill, Nenagh, Roscrea and Silvermines have been awarded Bronze medals. The medals are awarded to entries that are within a certain range of the overall winners marks.

The county winners in Tipperary are Terryglass and Emly – north and south Tipperary are separate areas for the Competition.

Clonmel won the Regional award in the All Ireland Pollinator Plan category.

Geashill in county Offaly is the winner of the tidiest village, the winner of the tidiest small town is Abbeyleix, county Laois, the best large town is Killarney, county Kerry and the large urban centre winner is Ballincolling, county Cork.

Abbeyleix emerged as the overall winner for this year’s competition.

Overall there were 886 entries in this year’s competition sponsored by SuperValu.
