Twenty one retail outlets operated by Paddy Power are to close.
The closure includes two premises in the county – Templemore and Clonmel shops are to close.
The other closures are in Dublin, Galway, Cork, Waterford, Kilkenny, Meath, Wexford and Clare.
After the closures the company will still operate a total of 230 shops around the country.
Flutter Entertainment – the parent company says all 78 of the staff affected in the shops will be offered redeployment opportunities across its remaining shops and in close proximity to their existing jobs.
In a statement, Flutter said the decision to close consisted of two main facets – lease expiries and early terminations.
It added the decision came after a review into its “high street estate” and describes the shops that are to be closed as “underperforming” but says this is not a criticism of the staff involved.
There will also be some job losses – these have not yet been fully quantified.
