Tipperary County Council is seeking to hire a EU Just Transition Fund (JTF) Tourism Activator.
Details of the full time positon on a 3 year contract have been posted on the council website today with an October 26th closing date for applications.
The EU Just Transition Fund (JTF) was created to support the regions and communities in Europe that are most negatively affected by the transition to climate neutrality such as the closure of peat extraction or peat/coal fired power stations.
The fund will support the transition through funding of sustainable tourism projects that are designed to have significant regenerative impacts on local communities and peatlands. The fund will be used to create more reasons for tourists to visit the Midlands and to ensure they have memorable experiences when they are here. The purpose of the role is to build awareness and confidence in the potential of tourism in the Midlands, to elicit quality grant applications and project ideas from businesses and communities in the EU JTF region and to build strong networks among tourism enterprises.
Parts of East Tipperary from Carrick on Suir to the area round the Littleton Bogs are eligible for EU Just Transition Funds. Projects are being developed near Littleton to link historic sites such as Derry na Flan and Lough Doire Bhille with greenways and to develop a wider network of paths as part of the Littleton Labyrinth project.
The EU Just Transition Fund position attracts a salary €53,345 – €65,172 per annum for a 35 hour week and includes 30 days annual leave. Full details can be found at this link here.
